Dental Care at Home

Do you, or any family and friends struggle to leave the house due to immobility, frailty, or other conditions?

Here at Wedmore Dental Practice we will soon be offering dental visits in the comfort of your own home.

At Wedmore Dental Practice our vision is to ‘share our passion for health’. Our reputation is built on providing personalised care for every patient.

We have many families registered with us, including multi-generations of the same family. We offer general dental treatment, aesthetic dentistry and more complex treatments, including endodontics (root fillings), minor oral surgery, and management of patients with more complex medical conditions.

The Practice Principal, Jennifer Morecroft, has long recognised the lack of domiciliary dental care provision in Somerset. As a team we are passionate about healthcare and we observe the impact that poor oral health can have on general health outcomes.

We are proud to introduce Wedmore Dental @ Home; private dentistry in the comfort of your own home.  Domiciliary care will be available on Tuesdays and delivered by our associate, Dr Agata Milewicz.

Agata has years of experience providing domiciliary and special care dentistry. She is also a clinical supervisor at Bristol Dental Hospital and works for Bridgwater Dental Access Centre providing treatments under general anaesthetic and sedation.  Assisting Agata will be one of our domiciliary-trained dental nurses.

Agata is excited to work with the practice on this new venture, supporting and caring for patients in the community who need dental care at home.

The following services will be available as part of our domiciliary service:

You can enquire about home visits via phone, email or letter; please include your telephone number when registering your interest. Our reception team will make contact; they will ask a few questions to ensure the domiciliary service is suitable for your needs and you will be asked to complete a medical history form.  One of our nurses will then contact you to by phone to ask more detailed questions about your home, support needs and treatment requirements.

Our reception team will make contact again to book an appointment and take the call-out fee (£170) over the phone. The call-out fee helps us to deliver a safe and effective domiciliary service; each visit involves detailed planning, travel and equipment requirements. You will be provided with a date and approximate time of the planned visit.

The dentist, Agata, will review your details and plan the equipment requirements for your visit. Occasionally it may be necessary for the dentist to make contact over the phone prior to your appointment.

The domiciliary dental team will arrive at your home address with all necessary equipment. They will identify a suitable place to set-up clean and sterilised instruments within your home. Once the treatment is complete, they will take away hazardous waste and sharps. If anything in your home has been moved to accommodate our equipment, this will be returned to its original position.

During the appointment the dentist will discuss your treatment options with a clear explanation of fees. Once a plan has been agreed you will be asked to sign a treatment plan, including estimated costs. We will always listen to your preferences and expectations; we have a lot of experience tailoring treatment plans to accommodate individual needs and budgets.  We also welcome our patients to have a friend or family member present for support and comfort.

Once you have paid the initial call-out, the treatment fees are the same as you would expect to pay in practice. Further details of our fees can be found on our  fee page within our website or our reception team can provide a copy of our up-to-date fees. Payments can be made by card during the home visit, or via BACs within seven days of treatment.
